New signs have been put in Hammerwich to help people find walking routes through the area.
Hammerwich Parish Council has introduced new oak posts to replace the old fingerposts, but has added a QR code which can be scanned to showcase the network of footpaths.
Cllr Vance Wasdell, Chairman of the Hammerwich Parish council, said:
“We have some beautiful countryside in the parish, which we would like the public to enjoy, responsibly.
This is the start of an upgrade of our footpaths, the next step will be to clear some that need some maintenance.“
It is hoped that the new project will prevent walkers mistakenly using private land rather than public rights of way.
Cllr Dave King, who led the project, said:
“A lot of work has gone into this initiative, which has been funded entirely by Hammerwich Parish Council.
We have worked closely with local farmers on the project. They have been a fountain of knowledge and worked with us throughout.
We hope people will use the QR code to identify their route and enjoy the exercise and part of our countryside.”
